What’s New in Multiphonics CV‑2
This section is for users who are already familiar with Multiphonics CV‑1 and who want to quickly get up to speed with this new version.
If you have never used Multiphonics CV‑1 before, skip to the next section.
Audio Effect Plug-in ⚓︎
Multiphonics is now available as an audio effect plug-in that works in all major DAWs.
The standalone application does not support loading effect patches.
The unique features and capabilities of the effect plug-in are described in Introduction—Using Multiphonics CV‑2 as a Plug-in.
New Patch Browser ⚓︎
The look of the patch browser panel has been refreshed. Its behaviour should be more intuitive.
Updated Modules ⚓︎
Added a 4-channel mixer with pan control to the Output module.
Ladder Filter, Objeq Filter and State Variable Filter modules now have stereo inputs and outputs. They can still be used in mono by connecting only to the left channel.
The Dual VCA and Dual Delay modules have been removed. In CV‑2, the VCA and Delay modules always have two channels.
The Delay now has built-in 6 dB/oct low-cut and high-cut filters.
The Slew Limiter and Sample & Hold modules have been improved to work better with audio-rate signals.
Sample & Hold now also does track & hold.
New Modules ⚓︎
The following new modules have been added:
- 3-band Splitter Splits a mono or stereo signal into three customizable frequency bands.
- Compare Sorts and compares up to 4 audio or CV signals.
- Crossfader Crossfades between up to 4 mono or stereo signals, with modulation inputs (including audio-rate modulation).
- Crusher Bitcrushing and sampling rate reduction.
- Eq Filter Single equalizer band, configurable as a low-shelf, peaking or high-shelf filter.
- LR ▸ MS and MS ▸ LR Mid-side matrix modules for stereo processing.
- Micro Filters A collection of low-footprint 6/12/24 dB/oct filters engineered for precision.
- µAP (all-pass)
- µBP (band-pass)
- µHP (high-pass)
- µLP (low-pass)
- µNotch
- Panner Basic mono-to-stereo panner with modulation inputs (including audio-rate modulation).
- Saturator Saturation module with soft, hard and asymmetrical clipping.
- Stereo Mix 5 Like Mix 5, but with stereo I/O and a balance knob per channel.
- Stereo Util General purpose stereo signal manipulation module with stereo width, mono bass, L/R swap and balance.
All new modules designed for audio signal processing have stereo inputs and outputs, besides the Panner which is a mono-to-stereo module.
Workflow Improvements ⚓︎
Multi-patching ⚓︎
With all those new stereo modules, a stereo patching feature has been added. Simply hold the Shift key while dragging a wire from the left output of a stereo module to the left input of another stereo module, and the right channel will automatically be connected.
The same feature can also be used to save time in more complex patching scenarios, such as one-to-many, many-to-many and many-to-one connections.
This is described in depth in the Patching—Multi-patching section.
Multi-module Parameter Changes ⚓︎
Holding down the Alt key while moving a knob or pressing a push button on a module applies the action to all adjacent modules of the same type.
This is described in depth in the Patching—Multi-module Parameter Changes section.
